The afternoon squeeze: The two-way press release

Thursday, December 7th, 2006

Earlier in the week, Steve Rubel posted about Edelman’s new two-way press release, which essentially breaks down the meat (or dare we say, pulp) of news content into chunks.
The goal is to provide a way to deliver news that’s more aligned with how communication on the Web is evolving. The first attempt is interesting, [...]

How well does it work?

Be careful with new features on products. People will actually use them and tell the world about their experiences. Today, it’s easier than ever to do so.
In this case, the new feature adds up to $5,000 to the already hefty $60k+ price tag. Based on this popularly [...]

Will eons be successful?

Thursday, December 7th, 2006

Last night PRpulp attended a presentation at Boston College by a couple of folks on the executive team of eons.com; including CEO Jeff Taylor, who is more famously known for that little job seeking company called Monster.com.

Wednesday, December 6th, 2006

There’s some new talk on the ad block these days. The thing is, it’s nothing new.

Part of the deal is that it needs to be released as open source so that other institutions can [...]

The move to a 12-inch-wide front page brings the Journal in line with most American broadsheets (except The New York Times, which makes the switch next August) and is expected to save Dow Jones $18 million a year.
Executives and advertisers [...]

Santa’s rear is banned from Maine

Monday, December 4th, 2006

Well, not in the physical sense.

A debate has been brewing over a proposed label design for Santa’s Butt Winter Porter between the company that would like to sell it, Shelton Brothers, the State of New York, and Maine Bureau of Liquor Enforcement.

Last year, the company had similar problems with the label design for Seriously Bad [...]

The New York Times reported that starting today Yahoo and Reuters will be accepting user-submitted photos for possible syndication across Reuters.com and Yahoo’s news site.
The service is called You Witness News and according to the site, it’ll start accepting uploads tomorrow.
The concept is nothing new – local broadcast affiliates have been accepting user-generated content for [...]
