“I and senior management agree with the American public that this was an ill-considered project,” Mr. Murdoch said. “We are sorry for any pain this has caused the families of Ron Goldman and Nicole Brown Simpson.”

Either that, or they put on their common sense hats for a second after hearing that several affiliates said that they wouldn’t be airing the FOX special about OJ’s new book “I Did It.”

From the official statement:

“This special would have benefited only O. J. Simpson, who deserves nothing but contempt, and certainly no benefit.”

Or it could have been Bill O’Reilly’s similar revolt:

Fox News anchor Bill O’Reilly called the plan a “low point in US culture” and called on viewers to boycott both the book being published by ReganBooks, an imprint of News’s HarperCollins publishing house, and the products of companies taking advertising space when the show aired. Another Fox News regular, Geraldo Rivera, said the show allowed a “lowdown and dirty double murderer” to cash in on his crime.
