Dan Rather’s new gig

Our buddies over at Garrand, had a nice post about Dan Rather’s new gig as host of the aptly named “Dan Rather Reports,” which debuts tonight.
He’s signed on with HDNet, a primarily HD station that has been picked up by Adelphia, DIRECTV, DISH Network, and Time Warner, among others.
Big Boy says:
Mark Cuban’s HDNet has given Rather complete autonomy with his new program, “Dan Rather Reports.” It’ll be a combination of “60 Minutes” with a big helping of Edward R. Murrow sprinkled throughout every story.
This is how Rather summed it up in the Miami Herald:
“The corporations that own major news outlets have grown tremendously in size. CBS-Viacom, Time Warner, Fox–they have a lot of other interests beside news, which is an increasingly small part of their overall business. They have billboard, music companies, Internet companies, all kinds of things. As they’ve mushroomed in size, their needs to provide ever-increasing stockholder value have increased accordingly.”
PRpulp would be watching…if Comcast carried the network.

According to his Wiki entry, Cuban is a true American billionaire entrepreneur who made his money with various Internet ventures such as Broadcast.com and Weblogs among others. [...]
