Video search – someone needs to figure it out.

Wednesday, October 25th, 2006

With all the hubbub about video use online these days, a topic that’s starting to creep into the conversation is video search.
To date, most search capabilities for video have been associated with its metadata information (filename, keywords, tags, or associated commentary). For example, if you are trying to find a specific scene such as [...]

TPS reports done yet?

Tuesday, October 24th, 2006

Ever have one of those days that got clobbered by bureaucratic bull?

Instead of speaking up when it’s not appropriate, let the “Office Space” soundboard do the talking for you.
Loaded with sound bytes from the classic movie by Mike Judge, father of Beavis & Butthead, Gary Lumberg is sure to bring a smile to a day [...]

Ford loses $5.8B. That’s 3.6 YouTubes!

Tuesday, October 24th, 2006

Wow! What a rough announcement from Ford yesterday.
Every now and again, it’s important to point out the good things in bad news. Ford did the right thing in its announcement by admitting there’s a serious problem:
“These business results are clearly unacceptable,” Mulally said. “We are committed to dealing decisively with the fundamental business [...]

We want to give you $$, but do you want to take it?

Monday, October 23rd, 2006

Browsing the Web today, we came across BRANDflex. Curious about its capability to generate print-ready PDFs on the fly for ads, we wanted to learn more about the company.
The site is very well designed, but after exploring the case studies and venturing over to Oncall Interactive’s site (BRANDflex it claims is a part of [...]

Speak their language

Monday, October 23rd, 2006

One of our PRpulp’s favorite blogs is ksblog. Today, the poetic post is about speaking the prospect’s language and thought it was worth tracking back to here.
Been enjoying Roy Young’s series
The 10 Biggest Mistakes Marketers Make.
Number Three is
Failing To Speak The Language Of Business.
I prefer to restate it as
Failing To Speak The Prospect’s Language.
Speaking [...]

Poor Aleksey

Sunday, October 22nd, 2006

It’s been a rough few days for Aleksey Vayner. All he wanted was a job on Wall Street. Instead, what he got was the cyberspace equivalent of a wedgie.
While we’re big fans of creative approaches to standing out within a pool of applicants, you probably want to make sure that the clips within [...]

Friday afternoon video – Meet the mechanical tiger

Friday, October 20th, 2006

With 167 Diggs, we couldn’t let your Friday afternoon suffer without seeing a mechanical tiger.

Are you addicted to the Internet?

Thursday, October 19th, 2006

Psych Central posted an interesting news item about “Cyberspace Addiction.”
It summarized a study from Stanford University Medical Center that included the following data:
The researchers found that 68.9 percent [of 2,513 adults] were regular Internet users, which is consistent with previous studies, and that:

13.7 percent (more than one out of eight respondents) found it hard to [...]

“Griefing” is a real concern

Thursday, October 19th, 2006

Following up on PRpulp’s earlier post about Second Life, The New York Times filed a similar story to BW’s that had some interesting insights about who’s in control in the virtual world:
As part of that process, businesses are learning that different rules apply when they venture into an arena where audiences are in control. “Users [...]

Borat just keeps smiling

Thursday, October 19th, 2006

A colleague sent this video from the England vs. Croatia Euro qualifier.

A couple of interesting things going on here.
1.) Very cool use of dynamic advertising, but reminiscent of the feeling you got when that AIM banner ad starting playing a clip from a trailer.

Dynamic advertising like this in sporting venues affords many benefits [...]
