Rupert Murdoch is one of the most interesting and powerful players in the media. As CEO of News Corp., he has his plate full overseeing properties such as the New York Post, DIRECTV, Sky, FOX, The Sun, and now MySpace to name a few.

How powerful is he? It’s safe to say: pretty damn powerful.

It may be his chess-like moves to ruthlessly squash competition, influence government standards, or even steer election decisions one way or another.

Out of all the stories written about him, The New Yorker’s John Cassidy did a nice job profiling some of his moves and connections to other extremely powerful people.
