Google buys YouTube for $1.65B

And yes, we’re jealous…
Let the rumor mill rest. It happened yesterday. Google bought YouTube for $1.65B. Yes, that’s billion. And the company is losing a reported $.9-1.5M/month serving up more than 100,000 videos per day.
Heralded as the starling of Web 2.0 lore, YouTube has graced Internet video watchers with masterpieces such as Tea Partay, funtwo’s Canon, the Star Wars kid, and lonelygirl15’s lazy eye.
Head on over to youtube.com today and you’ll see a video of Chad and Steve announcing the deal to the community. Forget the traditional press release. This is an announcement the YouTube way complete with a few post-celebratory champagne outtakes to the tune of America’s Funniest Home Videos.
